Arianna Greco, the artist who uses wine to paint

LECCE – Arianna Greco is a painter from Salento. On the occasion of “Open Cellars”, the national day dedicated to the discovery of the vineyards, she has painted a canvas of one meter by one meter, using wine instead of the classic colors. The location of the event was the cellar Terra degli Svevi (“Land of the Swabians”) of Venosa.
The Apulian artist learned about her passion a year ago by chance, thanks to some friends who work in the wine industry. This is a technique that has, however, a few difficulties. Starting with the physiological limits of the “color palette”, which the painter remedied by using different grape varieties and vintages. Highlights include the levels of boiling wine, needed to get different color intensity.
